Where has Bloglines been all my life?

Posted on March 4th, 2008 by admin in Uncategorized

While I guess you could call me a noob blogger, I didn’t consider myself ignorant of the blogging world and tools that were available.  I knew about Wordpress, Blogger, Flikr, RSS, and Technorati.  What I discovered yesterday, though, has changed my blogging life forever.

I have discovered Bloglines.  I would spend so much time throughout the day traveling to each of the blogs I wanted to read-click on bookmark, find the site I wanted, wait for it to load, and then start browsing.  Bloglines has changed that entire process and improved my blogging efficiency ten fold.

Bloglines

For those that don’t know, Bloglines is basically an online RSS reader that’s available to you from any computer.  You sign up for an account (it’s free), and then go to the feed tab to start adding blogs you want to subscribe to.  In 5-10 minutes you can setup bloglines to deliver all the content you want right to your bloglines account.  This saves you so much time by having just one place to go to receive all your blog feeds.  One of my favorite features is the simple keyboard shortcuts to jump from one blog post to another.  Just hitting the J and K keys allows you to move through blog posts both forwards and backwards.  Truly designed for the reader in mind.  There are many other features that I haven’t touched on so you should check it out (while you’re there, you should subscribe to my feed 8-) ).

I tell you….I feel like I’ve died and gone to heaven.  Or had a piece of pecan pie.  Take your pick.

Anyone out there have a similiar experience with a blogging program or have some good tips/shortcuts for Bloglines?  Let us know.
